La primera serie de estampillas de Venezuela fue emitida en 1959. Consta de tres valores: Medio Real amarillo naranja, 1 Real azul y Dos Reales rojo (Ver portada).
Fueron litografiadas en los Estados Unidos y posteriormente reimpresas en Caracas, una vez los tres valores (1859-62) y dos veces el Medio Real (1861).
De esta emisión conocemos ocho falsificaciones, todas filatélicas y las reseñaremos a continuación, sin que la numeración de ellas implique un orden cronológico de aparición.
PRIMERA FALSIFICACION
Se conocen los tres valores en colores similares a las legítimas y un dos reales en color marrón. Todas llevan matasellos negros de pequeños rombos alargados.

TERCERA FALSIFICACION
Al igual que en la primera falsificación se conocen los tres valores en colores similares a las legítimas y un dos reales marrón rojizo.
Fueron impresas en hojas de 50 sellos y mataselladas, antes de ser cortadas, con los característicos matasellos de puntitos. En las hojas enteras que reproducimos más adelante puede verse que hay diferentes arreglos de los puntos, en distintos tipos de matasellos.
CUARTA FALSIFICACION
QUINTA FALSIFICACION
Las primeras cuatro falsificaciones son cuantitativamente más importantes.
Las que siguen son escasas y ni siquiera hemos visto todos los valores.
